Cosmetic Dentistry at South Side Dental Center

Cosmetic Dentistry Starts with Whitening at South Side Dental Center

At South Side Dental Center we believe that the first step to beautiful teeth is to make them whiter! That is why we are Charlottesville’s Home for Free Whitening for life. We want all our patients to have the brighter, whiter smile they have always dreamed about.

After a comprehensive exam of your entire mouth, we will direct every patient to a plan to improve their cosmetic appearance. For most, this will just involve the free Take-Home Whitening trays that make your teeth whiter up to 9 shades. For others, we will recommend our In-Office Whiteningwhich fast tracks the whitening process but does include additional fees.

Then, as you return for future cleanings, we will help you touch up your whitening to keep your bright, new white smile.

Taking the Next Step in Cosmetic Care

For many of our patients, whitening alone is not enough to improve their smile. That’s why at South Side Dental Center our doctors are trained in the latest cosmetic procedures available today.

If you have missing, damaged, stained or broken teeth, we have the experience to restore your teeth with tooth-colored composite fillings and natural looking cosmetic bonding. For those of you looking for the most permanent and best looking outcome, we offer dental veneers, crowns, and bridges.

We have performed these procedures over and over, and have examples of many of the cases we have personally completed. We will take the time to show you what we can do for you. Call us today for your Free Cosmetic Consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions About Cosmetic Care

What is tooth whitening and is it safe?
It is a whitening process that lightens the discolorations of enamel and dentin. The teeth whitening system uses a whitening gel that is retained in a custom-fitted appliance.

Clinical research has shown that using a properly formulated professional tooth whitening gel under the supervision of a dentist is safe for teeth and gums.

How long does it take, and does it last?
Results are usually seen in the first several days. Maximum results generally occur when the process is continued for 10 to 14 days (or nights).

The teeth will ALWAYS be lighter than they were. However, some patients may choose to touch-up periodically, one or two nights every six months. If you think that you might benefit from this tooth bleaching process, be sure to let your dentist know. He or she would be happy to assist in providing you with whiter teeth and a brighter smile!

Why has South Side Dental Center never done silver fillings?
We have always felt since we opened in 2000 that the benefits of tooth colored fillings far out weigh those of silver fillings. Our office has never placed a silver filling and never will.
How can the laser improve my smile?
A large part of making a smile attractive is the positioning and orientation of the gum tissue surrounding your teeth. We use the Waterlase MD to help sculpt and develop the proper form and function of the gum tissue.

Charlottesville’s Home for Free Whitening for Life

South Side Dental Center wants everyone to have white teeth. As part of our initial care for every new patient we offer Free Take-Home Whitening.

Take-Home Whitening consists of two Custom fabricated trays. The impressions for the trays are taken at your initial visit. You return one week later, at which time one of our whitening specialists will deliver the trays to you and review the directions for their care.

In-Office Whitening may be recommended to patients with extremely stained teeth or those just looking for a faster result. This method of whitening is done in the office and takes about 2 hours. There is an additional expense of $200.00 for this service.

Additional tubes of whitening will be handed out at your 6 month recall appointments to help touch up the whitening that was already done.

To remain eligible for Free Whitening for Life, patients must maintain a 6 month cleaning schedule. Those that are not seen on their regular 6 month schedule forfeit the benefits of the program.
